According Compact English Dictionary "Have" is verb. No mention about auxilliary or transitive. Have means possess or own. It originated from Old English.

It could be a transitive verb , example is:
I have a new dress.
I have a new car.

or a verbal auxiliary , example is :
I have done this before.
I have finished eating when she came.
