Most of the time it can be viewed. However, some babies don't cooperate and cross their legs.

Just FYI, sometimes the umbilical cord can be mistaken for something else. Make sure any shower gifts that are boy or girl have gift receipts. I have seen "surprise" deliveries.

If you really want to know the sex of your baby at an ultrasound you should put if off til you are 20 weeks. There is a possibility that you can but it isn't for sure and if you wait til the 20TH week and the baby cooperates you'll have a better chance.

It's certainly a possibility, although it depends on the position of your baby. Sometimes ultrasound techs can get the baby to move into a more favorable position, other times not. I was able to see the sex of my son at 16 weeks. Hope you're able to find out, too! :) Best of luck!

I found out at 19 weeks. I think 16 is a little to soon to tell. Usuallly around 20 weeks is the time were you find out half way through your pregnancy.

i'd wait til the 20 week scan to be more precise
i asked the sonographer.. she said its a waste of time to try to figure out wat the sex of the baby is at 16 weeks cuz the baby is still abit small
