Most likely, no. Most of the underground is owned by third-parties, like coal or oil companies. Depending on where in the world you live, you can find charts of the basic underground layers with their proper names. You can backtrack any piece of land and see who owns which layer.

Most often, the only landowners who own 'all' of the layers have owned the property for hundreds of years. That 'family' has most likely just leased out the use of the layers to third-parties over the years.

You know this was actually covered in real estate classes? Most deeds cover ownership to the center of the earth. But some land can be owned only to the topsoil and other owners can own the mineral rights under the earth. Or, a farmer could sell his land and keep the vegetables (or whatever) until harvest. Not such a strange question after all, huh?

No, the owners of the property don't own it to the center of the earth as there is no definition within real estate to define that area, nor a way for the owner to maintain that area.

I doubt it. Take for example when you purchase a burial plot at a cemetary: that is real estate. Yet it's only going to be used normally up to six feet underground; sometimes double when you have two caskets buried together. As for other real estate, I'm sure it goes much further but has a limit.

If you buy the mineral rights to your property and a couple of other rights, I believe you own it. Of course I am very sure you have to get permission to do most everything on your owned to the core of the earth piece of property......so it is really never fully owned

What country do you live in? That's probably who decided how deep your ownership goes.
