I was not aware that Americans had anything against China except that it is communist. That is against their form of Government and not against the people.
As for me personally, I love the Chinese people and their food. Not just the Chinese but all Asians and oriental people. I always thought they are the most beautiful people in the world, with the Latins coming in second place as far as beauty.
They have a wonderful and very interesting history and culture.
I am 54 years old and remember the cold war well. My parents fussed at me for liking the orientals because they developed a hatred for all Asians and Orientals during World War 2 .I refused to inherit their hatred and prejudice.
During the Viet Nam War, I did not dodge the draft, but I did not join either. I tried to stay neutral as far as the war was concerned, but even during a time of War, I loved the Vietnamese people and culture. Like I said all Asians and orientals.
China has such rich history, I would love to visit there some day. My wife had a grand mother that visited there several times and had pictures of the Great Wall and pictures of rural China that most Americans never see. She had many wonderful stories to tell about the people of China and the customs and beliefs and culture.

A lot of countries are more knowledgable than the U.S.
I don't think it has anything to do with racism. I think it's more of a culture clash and the fact that China is not democratic.
In terms of the culture clash though, I've worked in the tourism industry for about 5 years before college and it was hard. Yes, Chinese people on a whole are so polite and appreciative but that gets lost in the language barrier.
Also, (generally speaking of course) they tend not to understand the concept of personal space or line-ups to the register which can be frustrating; but any normal person would stop and think, "Okay, maybe things are done differently in China and don't make assumptions about cultures in whole based on a small group of people, bc we all act likes *sses on vacation...it's what tourists do"

It's Americans irrational fear of communism. China is improving all the time these days so I don't think Americans will have much against China for too long. I for one like china and it's rich culture. It is not perfect of course but there isn't a country in this world which is improving faster.

There are two major gripes I have against China as a country, not as a people: (1) Tianamen Square 1989, where over 1,000 protesting college students were slaughtered by the Chinese military -- human rights in China are almost non-existent. (2) Over 95% of the computer software and digital media in China like DVDs, CDs, MP3s, etc., are pirated -- American companies that produce these types of media are getting bilked out of billions of dollars, and the Chinese government is one of the worst offenders of the bunch, so nothing is done about it.

ignorance on our part. Americans are not taught to have reverence for other cultures, only that we are the "best". on a basic level compare how Asians have respect for one another and value family ties above all else. American families are falling apart and losing touch with each other. i also think for the past few decades the American influence in china has been viewed in a positive light (i hope) however in America immigrants and non-Anglo cultures are not seen as members of our community but rather people who leach off of America. its sad b/c on a daily basis immigrants and other non-Anglo Americans work hard for our economy which helps our country thrive.

You ask what Americans( do you mean U.S. citizens?) have against the Chinese & then prohibit "China bashing"? Kinda convoluted, but here goes: I choose 2 from Column A & 1 from Column B & thirty minutes later I'm hungry again!
