Our's go up on 1st December, I would rather have all the decorations up prior to Christmas as once it is here all the excitement disappears. The last few years we have taken tree and decorations down either on Boxing Day or on the 27th. We have a 5 year old daughter who loves Christmas and really loves helping me decorate the house (we have a beautiful fibre optic tree that doesn't require decorating) and putting the Christmas tablecloth on the table then scattering Christmas confetti all over it. She also tells me where various ornaments and tinsel etc should go and we always have to have her 'First Christmas Bib' hanging over the post at the bottom of the banister (as our staircase leads up from our living room) so she can tell everyone about it when they come round. I think we may take her over to my in-laws (her Granny and Gramps) on Sunday as they are putting up their tree and decorations (they have a real tree) and last year both her and our nephew helped decorate the tree which they both enjoyed. She will also be responsible for decorating the tree at my mums as this is going to be the 1st Christmas without my dad (he passed away from liver cancer in May this year) and my dad loved Christmas (something I have inherited from him) and this is the best way to remember him ie have all the decorations up at my mums etc. The 1st December is also when I start playing my Christmas albums and watch 'National Lampoons Christmas Vacation' on DVD.

Decorations go up after Thanksgiving. Tree goes up about 10 days before Christmas, and it all comes down the day after Christmas.

Any time you like! My sister - in - laws family celebrate Christmas in July (don't ask me why), but if it gives them a kick and they're doing no harm to anyone else, then why not?! I'm travelling to spend Christmas with family this year, so I won't be putting up a tree, but I would do if we were staying at home. Hope you have a good Christmas.

people normal put it up 12 days before Christmas, well our town does, but this year I'm gonna put it up on the 1 of December, because my 2 year old loves looking at the trees in the shops so I'm doing early for her, but you put it up when your ready, who started the thing when it has to go up on a certain day anyway?

I wanted to put mine up this past weekend, but had too many other things around the house to take care of. Some decorations are up.
My tree will be up this weekend for sure.

Christmas Eve is the earliest it should go up.
If it's a live tree it's best to leave it as late as possible.
Most people start 'celebrating' Christmas way too early in my opinion.

December 20TH as this is in time to celebrate the Winter Solstice
( Yule ) and then take the tree down after January 1ST. this is plenty of time. try to keep decorating simple as the more one puts up the more one has to put away and store until next year.
