The biggest disadvantages of legalization of sex workers

it would lead to increase in number of "forced" sex-workers. Even now, girls are forced into it but it will increase. It will become legally possible for "dalals" (pimps) to exploit girls.
More and more girls from poor families will be lured to enter. Young girls will be exploited further.

There won't be much change in AIDS status, because people lack basic knowledge of it.

Good thing about legalization of sex workers is that it will life of sex workers easier in a sense that they won't be exploited by police and government officials. And it is kind of good in a way that it would provide a outlet for sexually surpressed indian society.

Just one more thing, there is no relationalship between rape and legal prostitution.
