I have just been told that I cannot use my Post Office Saving Stamps to pay for my TV Licence?
Apparently you have to have the cash or set up a Direct Debit??
Any help appreciated

I don't know if applies to all but I think all post offices do not do the tv licence no more. You have to go to a shop like, spar or someone else to pay it.

You can also pay online which is what I did. I was told all sorts of nonsense about my remaining stamps but I redeemed them by sending them in the post - read this:

If I still have my TV Licence savings stamps, what should I do?

-
If you still have savings stamps, you can do one of four things:

* Transfer the value of your TV Licence savings stamps onto your savings card.
* Use your TV Licence savings stamps to set up a Direct Debit to pay for your TV Licence.
* Use your TV Licence savings stamps in conjunction with a cheque or postal order to pay for your TV Licence. Please send your stamps and payment to TV Licensing, Bristol BS98 1TL.
* Redeem the cash value of your TV Licence savings stamps.

Can I redeem the cash value of my TV Licence savings stamps?

-
It is in your interest to continue saving towards your TV Licence using your new savings card. However, if you still have TV Licence savings stamps and wish to redeem their cash value, you can request a refund by sending your stamps to TV Licensing, Bristol BS98 1TL. Please do this by Special Delivery and remember to include your name, address, phone number and TV Licence number. TV Licence savings stamps will always retain their cash value. For more information, please call 0870 241 6468.

UPDATE: forgot to say that if you decide to redeem your stamps for cash instead of using them as part payment for a new license, you have to buy a new licence first
