I tend to put my elbows on the table. I just can't help it.
Funny you should ask I do tend to do it with just my left more then my right. I always use my left hand to hold or control the food or dish. Thus it remains in one spot.

It's been so ingrained in me that I eat with my elbows off the table..... after years and years of listening to my mum saying "listen to your Auntie Mabel, keep your elbows off the table". Man I hated that -- it still runs in my head if I feel the need to rest my elbows on the table.

Off but I rarely eat at a table anymore. When I do, one hand is usually in my lap and the other is working the fork so I'm not touching the table at all.

I've never really been taught the exact proper way of sitting at the dinner table but I've heard, no elbows at all. I usually lean my mid-arm against the table when I hold my silverware.

If I remember cotillion correctly, both elbows are to be kept off the table except in-between courses where you may "Casually lounge with one (either) elbow on the table". I might be wrong, so for accuracy's sake, keep 'em off.
