Seventeen and it was a 1959 Chevy Biscayne with a 283, 3 speed on the column that I paid $200 of my own hard earned money for in 1974!

I bought my first car at the age of 16, it was definitely second hand with a bad transmision. I paid for it myself with money I made by working part time in a grocery store.

I got my first car when I was 18 and after I graduated from high school and began taking college courses. My parents didn't believe in buying cars for their kids, I had to buy it myself. In my parents' defense, I am one of 6 kids, so they couldn't afford to buy me a car even if they wanted to. It was used. It was a 1978 Ford LTD. The thing was huge! But it was mine!

When I was 17 my dad bought a new Olds Alero (what I wanted). Whichever kid was using it was supposed to pay him a monthly payment, although the payment was much lower than if we were paying a real car payment. Ended up that no one other than me ever used it, so I've been paying it off for years now. haha.

It's a lease and I'm paying for it myself. I could only manage to do it bc Oldsmobile is gone so the cars were going really cheap

I had just gotten outta school and couldn't share Mom's car anymore. I was 22 and picked up a used '88 Buick Century. Bought it myself. Boy, that was great little car...

Age 16. Brand New. I paid for it in installments, but my parents had to countersign. It was a Pinto (and turned out to be a horrible "lemon"!).
