I'm currently in the Uk so whenever I use google it returns mostly pages from the UK thinking that what I want to see. I.E. I'll be looking for digital cameras and it will return UK sites that sell them and UK prices. I just want to search as if I was in America.

Check the site address....you're probably searching google.uk or something like that. Ensure you type google.com
If it still doesn't work....well then that's the price of technology that tries to be super-efficient.
