What does a kid normally learn in their year of kindergarten? What are they taught? Is it all about learning to interact with other kids, or are they taught stuff like reading, writing.. etc

kindergarten is a place where they start to learn kids simple words like at, or, and and they learn the alphabet and thier numbers, as well as learning most of all how to interact and play with kids there age and not be shy

below is a 16MB pdf document of the entire North Carolina Standard Course of Study. it outlines everything the child will be taught (or at least exposed to) for K-12 its a big document, but you can jump from subject to subject and just look at the kindergarten competencies.

depends on your centre, how much you expect and communicate to staff and of course your child. hi i am a childcare worker past 5 years and mother of 5 year old.
some centres focus on different aspects while others have high education expectations. also staff will generally focus on specific need and interest. example if they hit all the time, will focus on c-operative play. if they love to scribble and crafty stuff, will extend with writing name on work then lead on form there. really you should research and ask lots of questions from the centres that you look at to get an idea and ask friends etc to look at their children's focus books/communication books or orientation folder or something along that line. also just ring a few and ask that same question.
