Forgive the "church" That burned you, then renew your relationship with God, He'll lead you to the right church for your if you listen.

I think you know that you must forgive those that hurt you. Even if you do manage to do that, you still may not be able to attend the same church. You'll just have to keep trying new churches until you find one that you feel at home in. I know exactly how you feel, I've been out of church for about 8 yrs. now. I've finally managed to forgive, but just can't quite "forget". And that's just as important as forgiving.

Try new and different ones.

I was part of the LDS church for a long time and learned it was not all I thought it was. Did I give up on church in general? Well no, I tried different ones until I found one that I fit in and that I learned from.

THe most important thing is God! and you do not have to have a church to have a relationship with God.

i would start by trying different churches they are definitely not all the same. try to choose one that best compliments your personal beliefs. sometimes sermons can sound more like i'm better than you rants. personally i have found the episcopal church (not all but most) to be the least judgemental in their sermons. the sermons are often called lessons. any denomination however can leave you feeling worse than when you went in. the point of church (to me) is to feel better when you leave. i suggest just trying out different churches in your area until you find one that works for you.

i am going through the exact thing in my life right now......what i am doing is trying out different churches until i find one that is meant for me......it isn't easy but try not to blame the church, it is the people that went to that one that hurt you, not the church or God!!! One of the hardest things to do in life is to forgive and forget......but don't go back to that particular church, find one that works for you and that you will enjoy going to!!!! Keep looking until you find the right one, and don't give up...it might take alot of time but once you find it you will be really happy that you took the time!!!!

Good Luck and God Bless!!!!

Keep searching and look for a smaller support group rather than a impersonal larger church congregation. Never stop looking for Truth!

Perhaps you should stop and ask yourself why this has happened. If I am burned by putting my hand in the fire, I tend to try to avoid doing it in the future.
