i think so-but i only get why she really is now that im a mum myself.
she is a professional working with little ones as i was for years but now that im a mum i understand why the mums i worked with were so appreciative of your help-there is a bond that you simply cant understand until you are a parent yourself ;which is why as a parent sometimes you cant see the wood for the trees in situations with your baby when you are sleep deprived
gina ford is not a parent which is why she can take that tone in her books, she has taken it with desperate parents over the years so they would have done anything for respite& as she is probably likely to swoop in full of energy they bowl over-then she convinces them she is right-
there are elements i agree with such as routine, but many people try it way too young-e.g.6 week old babies have their own routine.not a rigid adult-imposed one.
i agree with another answer-the baby whisperer takes things from the baby's perspective-and she is a mum too!i think she sees the emotional side in a way that gina ford never has.

I have just read "CLB" book. She is VERY strict!. But I did find that so many baby guides are vague and contradict each other, that is it nice to have a book that says DO THIS. I can see if you don't like people telling you what to do (like my husband) you won't like the book. There are somethings I will follow from the book, but other things in there are too OTT for me (hopefully Gina won't hunt me down!).

I have taken her routines as a basis for my 10 week old , but adapted it to suit us, eg, starting day at 8am rather than 7. Also he needs more sleep during the day than she recommends so I dont follow that, but i do follow the feed times and he sleeps through the night from 12 midnight til 8 am now. Take what you need from her routines but dont live your life by them if its not for you.

YES she is!
She advocates leaving a baby to cry and wants you to clock watch and live by a rigid schedule.
Routine is good but not that way!
Tell your sister to get 'The Baby Whisperer' by Tracey Hogg, she is great and he schedules are a lot less rigid and more adaptable and baby friendly!

Well we were given our brains to make informed choices. You don't have to buy and read her books. If your sister thinks they are the best thing since sliced bread, then that is up to her!

Her books are useless really, if you wanted to impose a strict routine on your baby you could just make one up yourself, its just as likely to work as hers.
