You need to rinse (fill and empty) the tank at least three times to remove all the kerosene and to dilute the remains at the bottom of the tank.

Secondly, you should insert five pounds of dry ice pieces into the tank (when this comes in contact with the remaining liquid, the CO2 will vaporize displacing the oxygen from the tank).

Invest in either 250 metal cutting blades or better yet, several packages of either Milwaukee brand Tungsten Carbide or “the Torch” Sawzall blades. I’ve cut through numerous tanks with these and they are worth every penny.

Maybe, if you flushed the tank and take air samples to be sure your well below the lower explosive limits for kerosene. But otherwise, I would not recommend you try it on your own.
