I spend the holidays with a mixed group of family and friends. My best friend always invites her uncle. Initially, he is pleasant. But as the day passes, he becomes more and more intoxicated. At dinner recently, he surpassed his usual vulgarities and went straight to sexual innuendos. He told my nephew to shut his "F'n" mouth, and suggested that my husband 'teach me a lesson', whatever that means. I cannot take it anymore. I am not the only one who has met their limit in this area. I suggested that my friend tell him that these drunken tirades will not be tolerated. But she is afraid that he'll feel alienated. Christmas is around the corner, what do I do? I don’t want to be alienated, either.

if he is there again, call him on it AS SOON as he gets there..something like...I hope you don't plan on getting drunk and acting like an *** again. If he DOES, leave. Plan and simple..remove YOURSELF from the situation..the only person you can control is you. Maybe your friend will see what a hindrance he is then. Good Luck!

the "ditty " that comes up before you answer a question is --- be the first to answer --- someone needs to be the first to stand up to this obnoxious uncle of yours --- and preferably a male .
what if he decides to relay these obscenities at Xmas ?? how will everyone feel then ??
this bloke needs to get a life and be rid of the chip off one shoulder , and the monkey off the other .
he's nothing but an obnoxious weed and you don't need this sort of disrespect --- good riddance to bad rubbish is my motto !!!
and Good luck --- god knows you'll need it .p.s if he can't handle his grog , he simply shouldn't drink the stuff --- but perhaps for a xmas present you could all give him the local AA number as a tiding of goodwill !

DON'T SERVE HIM ANY ALCOHOL, AND EXPLAIN TO HIM WHY. IF YOU DECIDE TO DO THAT, STICK TO YOUR GUNS. YOU WILL HAVE OTHER FAMILY MEMBERS TO BACK YOU UP. GOOD LUCK AND MERRY CHRISTMAS TO YOU AND YOUR FAMILY.
