Re the sonographer not telling you the sex, if you are in the UK a lot of hospitals have a policy whereby they will not tell you the sex of the child you are carrying unless there is a medical reason to do so (ie you carry a genetic problem that only affects one sex). This is due to certain cultures having a termination if they are carrying girls as abortion on the grounds purely of the baby's sex is illegal in this country. So those people telling you that you have to be told the sex are incorrect or from another country.

Re sickness, I had a boy without the slightest hint of sickness and my best friend had a boy and had morning sickness for the whole 9 months.

I don't see how the women that was giving you the ultra sound couldn't tell you what the sex of your baby was. If you want to know they have to tell you unless she tells you that it is there policy not to tell the parents to be due to some type of law suits or something. My opinion is that she wasn't sure her self. I didn't think that you could tell until the 19Th week of pregnancy. As for the tiredness and being sick with this pregnancy and not your first they are all different. Granted I have four kids and am pregnant with my fifth. I never got sick or very tired with my boys and I have 3 of them but my last pregnancy and this one I am so unbelievably tired and have been nauseous and vomiting a lot and it turned out to be a girl so I got my dd. But, this one is the same as I felt when I was pregnant with my dd so, if this one is a girl then what you believe is true. Good luck to you and I hope that your pregnancy goes well and you have a happy and healthy baby no matter the sex.

I dont think it matters how sick u are etc. I had no sickness with my first I didnt even feel pregnant and I gave birth to a girl. This time its the opposite im constantly sick etc but that doesnt mean im having a boy. Just hold hold it will be a nice surprise in the end. I also thought it was too early to determine the sex of your unborn child untill you are between 18 and 20 weeks pregnant so maybe it is a little early to tell.

Good luck with the pregnancy x

I don't know what I am having either and I have the same problems and I am almost 5 months. I don't know how it really goes but most old tells say beautiful skin and sick all the time with a girl and the opposite with a boy. You really want know until you get that ultrasound for the sex determination.

How can you be sure she knew the sex?

a scan isnt 100% accurate for telling the babys sex, especially that early, my sonographer wouldnt tell me at 13 weeks, however, at 22 weeks, she was more than happy to 'give me an indication'

you have to understand that if they get it wrong, someone is going to make their life hell!

be patient for a little while longer, ask again at your 20 week scan, if not, it may be your hospitals policy not to release this information and if you are that desperate to know, pay for a private scan on your baby to find out the sex.

I'm due to have a girl in January and I've never once thrown up although I used to suffer from dizziness and fainting.

Apparently they don't tell you the sex early on in pregnancy anymore incase you decide to terminate if the baby wasn't the sex you wanted. And this can be quite unfair as sometimes you may only get one scan if you are healthy.

If the ultrasound examiner did not tell you, she is not very
competent and perhaps was in doubt so, not be mistaken,
did not tell you. It is quite normal to tell the mother nowadays!
The fact of feeling sick is concerned has nothing to do with the
baby being a boy or girl, you have hormonal changes and a
MD can guide you better than anyone else.

everyone is different and reacts to pregnancie differently,i have 3 girls and was sick with my first , very sick with my second and , very very sick with my third, and yes was very tired up to 5months then eased of then i got to the heavy and fed up stage,on my experience id say GIRL. but ive never had a boy so dont really know the difference. itll be a nice suprise when you have your baby if you dont know, you can always have lots of fun guessing,we did a guess the delivery date, weight and sex who ever won or was nearest got a little prise not much just chocs, was a laugh goodluck with things.
