Good question!
Self-righteousness (my own definition)
Consciously or subconsciously deeming one's own moral and ethical conduct to be superior to those of others. The self-righteous person considers their own beliefs and conduct to be of pure intent, so whether they are offending others or not their words and actions are 'never' truly in error.
Those who live self-righteously, may hide behind a guise of humility and meekness, yet will find a voice to express their distaste for the views / lifestyles of other people.
The self-righteous characteristic is most notable in people who strive for perfection.
Personal note: I know self-righteousness personally as I grew up in a strict religious environment where perfection was the only ambition to strive for. Even though I am not religious anymore, I struggle with this terribly as a direct result of my upbringing. But my challenge is to fight that attitude with my keen desire to learn and appreciate all people from all walks of life. Gawd - I hate self-righteousness. Especially remembering back to the way I used to be, the memories are truly cringeworthy!! Glad I am changing!
All the best!

Self righteousness for me is something like a defence mechanism and having that strong feeling to stick with out own opinions. It can make us feel safe but at certain moments, we do feel guilty of it. Yes, who doesn't?

A self-righteous person is one who believes that his/her belief or concept of something is superior than other's.
We're all guilty at times, but some are more guilty.

It is a paradox. unaware of who we really are,A selfrighteous man believes he is allways right. Once we experience unity with God in unconditional love within our hearts, we become a "Righteous Man" seeing God in all things. Yes we have all been "guilty" of this. It is but the spirit of God forcing us to "be right, honest" "perfect" beings.

Narrow mindedness ignoring other beliefs. Yes, we all get into this trap of a strong belief which makes us rubbish the other point of view.
