teach them the concept of multiplication, not just to remember the multiplication table. instead of remembering they will be able to apply the concept and work them out, this means less time sprent memorizing a table and more time spent using their brain to work the problems.

Depends on the kid.
Some remember best by practicing on worksheets over and over. Like a "mad minute", give them sheet with problems and set the timer for a minute.
Some by recitation and counting...8, 16, 24 etc.
Flash cards can be used.
And some by learning songs. Like from schoolhouse rock..."If you can skate a figure 8."
Any way you go about it, it's hard for some kids.
Good luck!

Flash cards work best for me, but it depends on the kid. a good way to remember the 9's is to use your hands. spread yo fingers out. if u put down your pinky on your left hand, which is the 1st finger, there r 9 fingers left. so 1 * 9 = 9. if u put down the ring finger on ur left hand, which is the 2nd finger, therez 1 to the left of ur 2nd finger left up, n 8 to the riight of ur 2nd finger. so 9 * 2 = 18. get it? it's easier to show in person, but i hope u understood. 2's u just double the number. 0's n 1's r easy. but yea, flash cards work best for me. hope this helps!!

I had real problems learning my times tables until my grandmother took it upon herself to help me one holiday season. On the trip to the destination of our holiday (I guess the trip took a few hours) she and I recited the tables that I was having real trouble with over and over and over, as a song. Yes, it was tedious, yes it bored me to tears and yes, sometimes I have to sing the song to remember them, but it stuck. Hope that helps. :)
