Actually, none of the above. The most significant change is in the thermosphere. Around 120km to 130km a huge curve on the temperature occurs. Object falling into our atmosphere do generally burn up once they reach the mesospere, but when rising in altitude, it actually gets cooler, not warmer at all, throughout the mesosphere.
