YES, I remember Romper Room, and Captain Kangaroo, and The Great Space Coaster, and Bozo's Big Top Circus, and Mr. Roger's Neighborhood, and Gilligan's Island, and many more...
What's really sad though is more recent news -
1. I do NOT know if this was true, but there was a rumor that Bob Denver (Gilligan) was arrested for drug possession, and he ratted out his supplier - the girl who played Mary Anne...(I do NOT know if this is fact or fiction).
2. I do know this is true - the man who played Mr. Rogers was forced to do the show in restitution, as he was convicted on charges of child molestation (ever noticed he's never actually NEAR a child?).
3. I do know this is true - Captain Kangaroo was an alcoholic - which is why in most episodes his nose is always red...
4. I do not know if this is fact or fiction - Mr. Greenjeans from the Captain Kangaroo show committed suicide because he could not ever get another acting job - people thought of him only as Mr. Greenjeans... (I do not actually know if this is true or not - could be only rumor).
I still look back fondly on the shows of my youth, and wish that I still had that blessed ignorance of the truth. But now that I'm an adult, I realize that the truth is sometimes easier to know, but let the kids be kids while they can....

yes, I remember romper room! I loved that show! I remember the lady had a mirror (well, not really, it was more like a mirror with no glass) and she used to make all the kids sit in a big circle and she would say "I see Sally and Michael and Timmy, and I see Jenny and... ahh good times, those were good times.

I do! I especially remember when in the end the lady looked in the mirror and saw all the kids in the audience before saying goodbye. I also remember Pattington(sp?) bear and that drab room with stairs that the lady and the kids sat on.

All I can remember is the lady holding the mirror and saying "I see......" I was never a big fan.... I loved Sesame Street and Electric Company -- Zoom too, but I think Zoom was just a Boston thing in the 70's....I'm not sure. ♪ ♫ Zooma, zooma, zoom-a, Zoom! ♪ ♫
