Your love, time and attention. I know if I was a kid again, and I could choose to get lots of toys, or my mom take me away on Vacation to spend time with me, I'd choose time with mom. Kids want more LOVE, NOT more STUFF! (They just don't know it)

an ipod, but if you don't have enough money then get a ipo shuffle, they are cheaper. If he is into music, that would be a good gift. Or like a Play Station 2, or video games or something. Video or computer games would be a good gift.

your time. it costs nothing but it's priceless. i know they don't see it at that age, but as they get older and have families of their own, they'll realise that you were there for them. and hopefully inspire them to love their children the way you love yours.
but on the material front, a TV-DVD combi, around £80. plus you'll have some cash left over for little presents, or maybe a trip to the cinema
if you've got the space and he hasn't got it already, his own room.
