Honesty is such a lonely word. Yes, I guess. When you are honest and telling the truth and nothing but the truth that ex. 1) a girl is a really not pretty and it so happened that she is your best friend... surely she will be sad and might think why on earth she was born;
However in the eyes of God, honesty is the best policy. You and I will earn pride and honor for telling the truth. Honesty is composed in the song for the purpose of telling other reason when you tell the truth. When your down and lonely you can easily make songs and poems emotionally.

Tell someone the brutal honest truth, for example, when your wife/girlfriend asks "Does this make me look fat?" tell her, "Why yes honey, it makes you look huge!" and then you will understand why honesty is such a lonely word.

may be honesty is a lonely word because there are not many honest people in the world...at least that's what the rest of the song seems to suggest

If you are completely hones there is a good chance that you will end up
offending everyone you know. People don't want to be told the truth all the
time. It hurts their feelings. Did you ever notice that journalists don't have
friends. People are afraid that their secrets will be made public.

most people can't face honesty. it is easier to hear "you look great, you are beautiful, I like it" ... than hearing non-sugar-coated brutal honesty
