I mean if I buy an iPod I can put all my DVDs onto it, if I get one I might be downlaoding them to my iPod and never needing to buy the material iPod, I have a pretty good collection and a DVD wishlist, are they a thing of the past or does it still make sence to buy them?

yes i still am...i ma not going to get all the movies i have at this time on a different format it will be to costly...i just might get the HD_DVD player and get movies from that point on that are in that format and some of the movies i have at this time i might get them in HD-DVD but not all of them..it would cost me 1000's i think if you play a regular DVD played in a HD_DVD will work. this is not like in 1979 when we had Beta and VHS ...when Beta eventually died...we will always have a DVD format

You can still collects DVD as it is still not an old technology. I have an IPOD and still purchase DVD to add to my existing collection. The IPOD i use for listening to music and sometimes for watching movies or drama. But when you really want to fully enjoy the movie, you should play it on your TV coupled with a home theater system that will enact like you are in a cinema. Nothing beats that feeling watching a movie with your loved ones at the comfort of your home. So i advise keep adding to your DVD collection and at the same time if you have spare cash, you can get the IPOD.

you know i have been thinking almost simular to you lately, except...my dvd collection is up to around 550 est. dvd movies and now they are comming out with the HD DVD movies, and i have a HD tv, so i've been wondering should i convert over and buy all HD Dvds now or just stick with regular DVD. anyways i decided that since my collection is so large, im gonna continue my collection and on add HD Dvds to it insead of replaceing the orignals....in a way it almost sucks how fast technolegy changes so quickly, and then on the other hand its a great thing
