That's a hard one!! My first Roald Dahl was George's Marvelous Medicine which I really enjoyed as it was a child getting one over on a mean grandma. Lots of Roald's books are about children getting one over on adults which is really enjoyable when you're a child.
I think my favourite would have to be Boy which was about Roald's life. It was just so fascinating and not at all like a usual biography.
I also really enjoy his adults books which can be quite dark but also really funny.

I love every Roald Dahl book that i get my hands too, but one of my favourites was "The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar and six more". Its a book with 7 short stories. It is absolutely intriguing because the end of every story is always the opposite of what you'd expect. The punch line is always well stated but contrevercial. I don't know if he is known much for this book, but you should definately read it. Others I also love are "My Uncle Oswald" about a potion found that would get a man to ... and "Kiss Kiss" that is full of many stories,,,,you'd love them all!

"The BFG" - I can't believe no one's said this one yet! It wasn't the first Roald Dahl book I read, in fact I believe it was probably the fifth or sixth book I read. Compared to some of the other novels, I thought it was definitely a book that focused on the beauty of the story, rather than the ugliness and the bad characters.

my all-time favorite book of Roald Dahl has been Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. I read it when I was 10 years old. It was such an exciting rollercoaster read filled with humor!

He's done so many great ones, and although I loved Matilda, George's Marvellous Medicine, and pretty much all of the others, I really was captivated by Charlie and The Chocolate Factory. You really rooted for Grandpa Joe and Charlie, but you couldn't help loving Willie Wonka for being such a wry bastard (albeit with a secret heart of gold). The oompa loompa songs were just hilarious to me, and as I child I read that book ragged. It hit the spot with having all the horrible things happen to kids that had habits that were even worse than your own (or just as bad heh). All in all it's a story I'll never forget, and no movie will ever live up to.

I came to Dahl later in life, and I like his supernatural and horror short stories, which I've bought in a collection. He's really one of the great authors of this sort of story.

It's "someone like you", a compilation of short stories. Firstly, it's full of dark humor which simply fascinates me. Secondly it's not very detailed, & books always are, so with each story you gain insight into a different puzzle piece of life. It begins, runs for 10 pages max, & ends, leaving me questioning my own understanding

I like all of them, I think he is a great author, and really can tell any kind of story.
But my favourite book is probably "Going Solo" his second book in his autobiography. I like that novel because it mentions his time as a pilot in the RAF
