All computer fans are important, more so in hotter weather. If your CPU fan bites the dust then best replace it quick-smart but if you only mean an extra fan built into the case then that's not too bad but still get another one. If you're lucky, the computer will shut down by itself when it gets too hot but if you're not lucky, you may fry the cpu and that means $$$$$$. It's also a good idea to clean the fans of dust every now and then.

Yes! I service computers, and the fans cool the system.
You have a processor fan, PSU fan(s), any of which can lock up and then the temperature rises dramatically!
I install a front fan to suck in air, plus a rear case fan, to exhaust more air. Still, when my PSU fans quit last week, the system beeped and shut down. The children were surfing the cartoon and wrestling sites, and weren't paying attention to the warnings...
I run http://pclinuxos.com and it has system and temperature sensor monitoring programs among the 5500 FREE games, applications, suites...
I have over 80 computers, so, the downtime was of little consequence, and I put in a new PSU.

Yes, regardless of which type of fan it is (case or CPU)
heat is a killer. If you can't get a fan right away to replace to bad one I would suggest taking the sides of the case off to allow more natural air flow. You should first unplug the system and lift the case off the floor if it is indeed on the floor. ( a foot off the floor will lift the computer above the major dust level) Remember to blow clean the the workings after you install a new fan before you close the case.

in the adventure that your pc detects any difficulty, you may restoration it. If the processor overheats, an costly ingredient interior could be broken. even in spite of the undeniable fact that the fan could be working, if the pc says there's a difficulty, it needs to get replaced.

well it depends, if ur fan is meant to cool ur processor, which if overheated can get damaged. so if there is no fan, nd if there is overheating then it can damage the cpu. so not directly but indirectly.

If your computer overheats, it will first stop working correctly and eventually stop entirely.
