I want to know peoples thoughts on this..If Michael Richards and Mel Gibson have to say that they are sorry for what they said..then shouldn't black comedians have to say they are sorry for what they say about white people? Or rappers for what they say in their songs about killing white people? No one says that they are sorry to the Muslims in America for trying to live here and yet people always are saying comments to them and looking down on them...

I think that it is nice and a show of respect for a person to sincerely apologize for an honest mistake.

I have to agree with you on your thought that black comedians and rappers, that they should also apologize for their racist comments/lyrics. It seems it's ok for their comments/lyrics nowadays. That's pretty hypocritical.

Where I am, we are limited on American channels on the radio. (I am in a US Military community in a foreign country.) There is a program that is on occasionally, I believe it's the "Tom Joiner Show". This guy makes comments all the time about his belief in the superiority of his race, the hardships of his race, and often makes remarks about white people that I find personally offensive. Again, that is allowed.

But is a white rapper/singer/comedian allowed to make the same sort of remarks? I think not.

Where Michael Richards is concerned, he has apologized, now people need to return the gesture and let it go.

I don't think the things should be said or done to warrant an apology from blacks or whites to begin with but this is the real world. In my opinion, if there is anyone of any age, race, or culture that is offended by something another person says, there should always be an apology. Like I said before though, the song lyrics about killing whites (or anyone for that matter), the comedians, actors, anyone should not be talking the smack that they do. In the past, and still to this day (worse in some areas than in others) making even the smallest comment made you enemies. It's gotten much better over the years but some of this racial tension is hanging on. We all need to take a step back, try to remain on the same game plan, and when we mess up be big enough to apologize. That is healing. That is just my opinion but hey, I am just one person. I apologize to even my cat when I step on his tail. I for one feel our society gets ruder to one another every day.

Everything all depends on who you are. I think that people of other races are more sensitive to comments than whites, that's why whites, don't ever complain much, they just take it as a joke, some people don't know how to take a joke, they're too serious & try to find anything to sue you about or whatever.

If it's about killing people in music then they have to say sorry.
Ihave to agree with you there.
But sometimes people don't look at their mistakes, only judge the ones from others.
And that's where the problem starts.

I dont think any of them should have to apologize. Its just another form of censorship pretty soon we wont be able to say anything for fear of the "morality police" coming to get us.

That's a moral dilemma, either you believe all races are one or believe you have the right to call names.

Yes sometimes people have to apologize for things they say. We don't have to apologize for how we feel.
