Our microwave it on its way out, so to give it a good send-off me and my mates have decided to pack as many eggs into it as possible, turn it on full-power, wait, and see what happens.
Hopefully there will be a repeat of the classic Michael Caine line "you're only supposed to blow the bloody doors off" (or door in this case, as there is only one door on it).

Does anyone have any tips on getting a good blast from it?

Empty your cutlery draw into a metal saucepan and cover it with aluminium foil, place the eggs on top, turn the microwave up to maximum power and set it for 10 minutes. This will go some way towards giving you the desired effect.

Suggestion, it may be worth evacuating the room wherever the microwave is unless there is someone present who you don't like very much.

Well even one raw egg will give a good bang, so how about you make a really good show of it and put the following in your microwave:

2 raw eggs - to explode
1 bar of soap - foams all over the place
1 old mug (so you don't mind it being broken), half filled with water with a standard (non-energy-saver) 60W light bulb placed metal end down in it - the water should cover the metal - the bulb lights up!

Just don't get too close!

Exploding eggs. Yuck, the smell alone is bad enough. Although if you guys watch myth busters, you would have seen the episode where they try and make a super micro. but infact it did the opposite. it cooled things down.

Another thing you could try is putting a giant gobstopper in the micro.. huge boom.

Just take everyone's advice. STAND BACK!!!

I always wanted to put a deodriant can in there.

I reckon you would get a serious blast with that. I also suggest you dont do it in your house and you get a very long extension lead as i reckon it could be quite dangerous.

Also i have seen one with a ballon with propane in it with a fork taped to the side that was a pretty decent explosion.

But dont forget BE SAFE NOT SORRY

Cannister of Nitrous like they use to make race motorbikes go faster? Are you taking a video? Dont want to be a party pooper but are you going to wearing ear protectors? No kidding I know someone who is deaf in one ear specifically as a result of a big explosion. And that was a lucky escape. Take care and have a blast :-)

Ok, most of these answers, perhaps all of them, assume you didn't shell or beat your eggs. I'm assuming you did because you say it "shot up like a souffle." Eggs do this because of the fluids they contains, when they are sufficiently heated they evaporate and expand, causing the "souffle effect." When you opened the oven the "souffle" collapsed. If you have ever made a souffle and opened the oven at the wrong time you would see the same thing. This is because of the drop in air-pressure in the oven when the door opens.

Add a can of beer... actually use coke (as in coca-cola), don't waste the beer. Power it by using a car battery in the middle of a field and stand well back. Also a tin of beans may add a colour... ; )

Gasoline in a metal container-better do it outside with a long extension cord.

Try a tin of beans WITHOUT taking the lid off.
