...lol this is a serious question... All I can think about during meetings is trying to stay awake- even if Im not tired, een if ive had loads of sleep the night before, even if the subject of the meeting is interesting.....I get in that room and sit down and the next thing my eyes are threatening to close- what can I do? We dont have opening windows in this office- its all air con so even turning it up we dont get fresh air which would prob be the best way of staying awake.
Ive got a meeting in an hour which is going on for 4 hours and I know Im gonna be falling asleep as usual! How can I stay awake?

Coffee, sugar... that will help temporarily but then you will crash big time later. Fruit can give you a more sustained energy, but the best thing of course is to get 8 hrs sleep a night and eat a healthy diet. Avoid big lunches, they make you tired. Opt for whole grains and veggies and frequent healthy snacks to keep your energy up throughout the day. Also, taking a break for a 5 or 10 minute walk will help, and exercising for 30 minutes or more several times a week is even better.

I'm the same. I just can't stay awake. I'm quite lucky because I can listen while I'm doing something else so I tend to draw or scribble. Lots of cold water and energy sweets help. If nothing else you bladder ends up so full that keeps you awake.

Take some water in with you to sip throughout the meeting, also have some chewing gum or mints handy.
Some strong coffee beforehand may help too.

I was in a meeting once where one of the Quantity Surveyors fell asleep with the back of his chair leaning precariously against the wall. When it came to his part of the progress report he woke up so abruptly he nearly fell on his ***. Everyone laughed at him for weeks hehe.

Good luck in your meeting!!!

Ha Ha I have the same problem
Try eating very strong mints these will open your nasal passages and allow more air to come in.
Or get a vicks nose inhaler
You can even buy a gimic that fits on your ear so when your head drops it buzzes and wakes you up
Good Luck
Jeff

Go and see your doctor hon, and he will prescribe something to keep you awake, I know what those meetings are like! I had the same trouble, I had to make out I'd fainted! and my colleague who held me up! said to me in confidence that he'd heard me snoring my head off! Just before I hit the floor! lol. The doctor fixed me up though, and nobody ever mentioned it again! Have a good day!

No point in attending a meeting in which you have nothing to contribute to or from, suggest you skip the meeting to do other urgent work and request the scribe emails you the minutes once its over.
Meetings should generally be short and best slot is just before lunch.

If I were you I would fall asleep, seriously, relax, and if you fall asleep it's not the end of the world. I mean a four hour meeting probably listening to a whole load of boring stuff is enough to make anybody want to sleep.

Seek to start your own business and think of that during these meetings. A lot of them do tend to be a waste of time and put people to sleep.

I know what you mean. I generally just drift off and think of other things, either that or play games in my head. Obviously if you need to contribute to the meeting I wouldn't suggest this!

Think about what you are going to do AFTER the meeting is over. If you doze off and someone wakes you up, as you open your eyes just say "Amen" and tell you them you were praying for guidance.
