okay, im not a racist per-say, but why is it that black people always seem to be so loud and "thuggish" and disrespectful? i went to court w/ my ex for child support re-evaluation and all the white ppl were dressed nice, and all the black ppl were all sloppy w/ pants down to their knees.
i know there are tons of nice black ppl out there, like i said, im not racist, but why do they want respect and to be treated fairly, when all they do is rip ppl off, and act like its a medal of honor to be in trouble with the law? (not speaking for all black ppl...) 1 out of 3 black men in america are in some form of the legal system.
why are they so proud of this, and why dont they want to change this? how are we supposed to treat them w/ respect when they dont respect each other/themselves?
please, im not a racist, im just confused about the subject.

It's a fair question, Erin. And I do not see it as a question based upon racist hatred but a simple first-hand observation.
I think the thuggish look that certain people, such as those you noticed in the courtroom, have embraced is part of a destructive culture -- a culture to which many black people have identified. Certainly some whites and hispanics as well, but this culture seems predominant in the black community -- probably due in large part to the mistreatment of their ancestors. I call this culture destructive, because I think it's rooted in hatred and blame. It's not doing anyone any good.
I think Bill Cosby would agree:

I find it somewhat odd that simple observations and questions, such as the one you have just made, must be made with apologies that they are not racist in nature. Why would it make anyone racist to simply point out an observation, question it and discuss it? Our society has become so sensitive and politically correct. It's a little frustrating.

I can see that you're not "racist" per se but you mean you were in the court room and people were just running around with their pants around their knees?? Not one of them recieved a ticket for indecent exposure?? No tripping over themselves?
Of course, you aren't "speaking of all black people" but why does anyone want respect or to be treated fairly?
I seem to remember that most pedophiles are not black, most date rapist aren't black, most serial killers aren't black, most identity thefts are not committed by blacks. Most of those people who go nuts and shoot up a fast food joint or thier jobs killing more people at one time, not black.
I know it's confusing, not being a racist and all, I get that way when an episode of Jerry Springer comes on and I see those nice, well dressed white people get on the stage.

Erin, why do teenagers talk the way they do? Why won't they stay in school in get an education? They are they so disrespectful? Why do they insist on wearing those baggy pants all down to their knees? I know that some teenagers are smart and stay out of trouble but 1 out of 3 won't finish high school because they think its cool. How can we respect them when they can't even form a sentence properly?
So you see, we can take any particular category of people (race or not) and find fault with them. :)
We all have pet peeves about individuals but we should not group them to be the "norm" as they are all unique and differ one from the other. I see plenty of other races displaying the exact behavior you described.
So I could group it into "young people" and cover more demographics than with race.

thats too tight a generalisation, there are also the chav boy gangs that prowl the world, they are the problem where i live, true wales is small, but the blacks here are hard working members of the community, the whites are the problem here, same as everywhere, it all starts with slavery, bit of an old excuse now, but it still stings. but the thuggish lot, its fashion, following their role models. i dont like it but what can u do, jackshit unfortunatly.

The cultural Capital of that culture is different from ours. we desire different things in life, and strive for different goals. what we see as the way to act, they dont. whites see a good job and a home as a requirement while blacks see being 'tough' as the best goal to pursue. its a generalisation I know, but look into cultural capital and hegemony and you will start to see the reasons why things are the way they are. the white middle class hegemony is set up will the values of that class, and the aspirations of that class are seen as normal by those that are a part of it. we see those that do not fit as 'losers' and rightly so, but to them they see us as 'losers' as we aspire for a different wealth.
look into sociology and hegemony/ cultural capital and you will see that just by being a different ethnicity you can be disadvantaged in a society.
donald trump is 'successful' to the western dream, but in the jungles of borneo he has nothing of value to the locals, no family or hunting skills. its all relative to the dominant culture of the society to dictate through hidden curriculum about what is 'right' and 'wrong' (loosely applied here).
The blacks you speak of know they dont fit in, so try to achieve the goals that their culture dictate, and many times over that is 'reputation', even to the point of disadvantage in our cultural view.
they dont care what we think any more than the borneo villagers care about our 5 bedroom homes with ensuites. its all relative to the culture, and sadly the slave trade disbanding meant that a minority had to 'fit in' through assimilation, and it just doesnt happen smoothly at all.
you see?

You don't have to apologize for your Question. How do you act white or black? This is the question I pose for you. So if I dressed nice I would be acting White? Not every one is responsible and not everyone will act in away that is appropriate. This goes for Caucasian people or African American people.

I think it depends where they are from & what kind of upbringing they had, that can happen to anyone no matter what color skin they have. It all depends on what
you grew up w/ & people SOMETIMES do not know any better because that's all they ever saw.
