No. Reflex actions do not involve the brain. Reflex actions are controlled by the spinal cord. What a bunch of low info you got racked up! I bet those guys missed the 'reflex' part! Any reflex action is a result of the spinal cord. The brain usually controls all voluntary actions i.e actions that you want to do. You know what you are doing. But sometimes, there is a need for action so quickly that the nerves don't have time to contact the brain for instructions. The spinal column takes over. Example of reflex actions are taking away your hand when it comes into contact with hot water, closing of eyelids when someone attepts to punch you in the face. These actions are involuntary and beyond your control. You don't mean to do them. They just happen.

Reflexes do not invovle the brain. Reflexes are mediated by the CNS though, the spinal chord that is and it doesnt go to the brain . Thats why reflex action is so fast. Reflexes wouldnt be this fast if it were to go to the brain for processing,
People please check your answers before posting them cause some questions need specific answers, and it shouldnt be guess work !!!

Assuming reflexive movement
Of course, all movement is tied directly to the Central Nervous System therefore MUST involve a synaptic (brain) response.

Coolasnwersguy and wizard lockless are correct.
To everyone else who answered wrong, I pose a question. If you are blindfolded and quickly submerge your hand in water, can you tell the tepmerature difference between scloding hot water or ice cold water BEFORE you move your hand away? No. It takes 40 milliseconds to complete the reflex, from sensory nerve to the spinal cord and then to the associated muscle to react. It takes you several hundred milliseconds to determine the relative temperature, hot or cold.

yes of cource
it involves brain. brain controls every systems including nervous systems.
there fore the stimulus first goes to the brain or upto the spinal cord then the reaction goes from the brain or the latter
so it involves brain

of course...for example you get pricked by a needle, the area where the needle pricked will send a fast electro-magnetic message that tells your brain that it is experiencing pain..therefore the first reflex is to move away...

Eyes, Nerves then they report back to the brain. Then you react. So brain is working! YES!
