...ever lick the end of those square batteries? Or was this just something me and my pikey twin brother used to do as kids? It gives you a little electric shock, we used to do it all the time, dare each other to do it etc..... there must be other people that used to do this as kids?!??!?

ha! hell yea, theres like a circle part and an octagon shaped part, and u put ur tongue on both of them, and its like tangy, good sh*t!

Yep - clearly it was why they put the terminals so close together!In a pre playstation age it was a key form of entertainment. Other such electrical pleasures came from collecting static from the TV screen and 'zapping' the back of the neck of brothers / sisters - scuffing (plastic) soles of shoes on nasty acrylic carpets and chasing each other to apply a shock.

My brother once got me with the lick the battery and get a shock, i know people do it to check to see if the batteries still have power, my brother tho got me to do it to have a laugh.

I did. I also had an electric organ/keyboard type thing and I used to put the end which was supposed to plug into the keyboard into my mouth whilst it was plugged in to the mains! Seems insane now that I think about it!

Yes and many people do it as adults, people put 9Volt batteries to their tongues and if they get a shock it means the battery is still good and has charge so many adults do it still!

I did! I believe it is impossible to precisely describe the feeling you get in the tip of the tongue. Perhaps like electric and vaguely salty?

LOL yes I did exactly the same as you. Thing is even though I got a shock I kept doing it lol. Awww the things we did when we were young.
