actress, does the word actually exist?

does the word actress actually exist anymore. why is a female driver a driver, a lady doctor a doctor and not doctress. why is it that only a female actor is called an actress and not actor.

YES it is .the examples quoted by u dont exhaust all words which have their female counterparts.There are still many such words which are used differently for female counterpart

the world actress,is used still in many references as a female counterpart to actor which itself shows that it is not outdated.
