The longest relationship I had was with my late husband, we were married for 35 years, we knew each other 2 years before we wed, it was very fulfilling because of our mutral love and respect for each other and the 3 children we together brought into the world made it more fulfilling. he lived to see out first grandchild but sadly passed away 2 months later, 3 more have come on the scene since.

Well 2 & half yrs has been the longest but FAR from the most fulfilling. My current relationship has been going strong now for 20 months and I have loved every single second of it. She fulfills & completes me in every way possible.

THe longest relationship I ever had was 3 years and it was so good. We had a lot of fun together, we use to wake up and just spend the whole day together, riding his bike and just talking about stuff.

That would be the one I'm in now. It'll be 5 years next March. I think because we are compatible on alot of levels, we like doing the same things. However we have some very fundamental differences in our belief systems, and we are grown up enough to allow that. Since I am a Sadist and she is a masochist, our sexual leanings are well matched. We are both professionals in our jobs, and have the same aged children (all in their 20's), we are out to, and who are loving, accepting and supportive to both of us.
But frankly I think it comes down to this. I am a dominant woman with a very strong personality and high demands. My standards and ethics are what I live by and what I expect everyone else to live by, and frankly in all of my past relationships I completely bowled over my partners and they were afraid to cross me. This woman isn't afraid of me at all, and she stands up to me at every turn. She also knows that my appearance of being strong isn't always true and many times is a defense mechanism to protect myself. She lets me be weak. She is a partner in every sense of the word, and completes my soul.

7 years. We were lovers then we were really good friends. We broke up but can't really get away from each other. It was love, compromise and giving time for the relationship to grow that made it strong. Honesty also helps... Being transparent really makes the relationship strong.

Joe and I have been together 16 years. What makes it good? Learning to give and take, learning how to work things out and talk things through. Realizing I will grow old with this man and some day be put to rest beside him. Having someone who understands me and accepts me even with my faults.

Jonathan and I will be together 15 years on Jan. 2.
We communicate, love one another, and are committed to common goals and dreams. That's what makes it wonderful.

Reyn

5 years.
What made it good - well LOVE. I could see no wrong in him.
Even now, after a relatively difficult breakup he will always be special to me. He always tried to put me first and brought the best out in me.
