There have been a lot of studies on this issue--just google it. The bottom line: In the middle income ranges, deviations of a few thousand dollars don't make much difference. Positive relationships to family and friends do. But there is a big difference in reported happiness between those making under $20,000 US and those making over $150,000. There is even a statistically significant difference between those making $40,000 and $150,000.

It's not so much the fact of cash as what cash brings you. Security of mind for you and your family. Recognition and respect from others. A low-crime neighborhood and a good school for your kids. Retirement in your old age if you wish. A college education for your children without them graduating in debt. Your own home. In short, more autonomy over your own life than those who have no money. Which is nothing to be sneezed at.

For some people it can't. The key is to love yourself and be happy with who you are. Without this, no amount of money would be enough. Once you have this, you can use money to enhance your life (travel, taking care of loved ones, living your dreams & most importantly not having to work!)

Money buys freedom. The freedom to never have to worry about money again & thus be able to fully enjoy the important things in life: love, creativity, etc. As long as we're slaves to money, working in jobs we hate, we have to waste so much of our day & our lives away from loved ones & doing things we don't like. I would be deliriously happy if I won the lottery & never had to go to work again! Then I could see the world, spend my time with my boyfriend & my family. Sing & write songs and paint whenever I wanted. Have a life rather than make a living...With enough money, I could even open an art gallery & have my own recording company to help other struggling musicians like myself...there's no limit to what you could do.

How could money not buy happiness?! If you know what you want, you could get it! I guess it wouldn't help if you didn't know what you wanted...

Money can buy you pleasure and comfort. Happiness and money are as different as living thing and non-living thing, though both are products of a living mind. Your money can only make you happy if you use it in ways that do you no harm. The more money you have the less potency it has to make you happy and contented, and the less secure you will feel with the soceity around you.

money can't buy the happiness. Did you see a lot of Kings went away in past they are good in money sight. but they were in dout every time because any one can cheat with them. So the money is unable to bring happiness for us but it can bring just some happiness for us which only can only buy for ordinary. Did you ever see your friends whenever you give them dinner party they love to come but whenever you say them to help you. what is there response they are not interesting in sitting in your company.
Thats y i am saying you that money can't buy happiness.
The thing which can buy happiness for us is that we share happiness with the other and get happiness from its return which can't be remove from over minds till death and we also gain inner confidence bec we are not lying

Although I disagree with aspects of Maslows heirachy of needs, its helpful to explain what I think on this.

If I am starving, being richer will greatly add to my happiness. If I can afford all the stuff I physically need, but my money is not enough to provide me financial security and I am always worrying if I will fail to pay a bill next month then again, more money will add to my happyness. If however I can afford all the things I need (including leisure) then more money will not add to my happyness.

depends what you think happiness is.
A lady I know was never a "happy" person to begin with, and she was only ever interested in having a lot of money, so she can live in luxury. Eventually she married a rich guy, and was well off, and she was happy as she ever was.

you know what they say though, money can't buy you happiness, but atleast you can be miserable in luxury.

That depends on what makes you happy doesn't it? If buying nice things and owning expensive things makes you happy, then yes, money can buy happiness.
