I smoked while I was pregnant! And I also took precription medications for blood pressure, and migraine headaches (percocete and demerol) my daugther was born perfectly healthy! She is a going concern and she has been advanced in her physical and mental development!
You know its better to quit smoking as an expecting mother but dont feel guilty if you do. 99% of everything you take into your body is filtered out by the placenta! The best thing to do though is to make your home a no smoking environment, its best for the baby one they start using there lungs! (as we know right now they really are not yet) Dont let other people make you feel guilty! I know many people who have smoke during pregnancy! Just dont smoke in the house before and after the baby comes cause that can cause health problems cause they are breathing that in.

When I found out I was pregnant I quit smoking. It was hard so I remember giving in to the pressure maybe 2 times. I felt incredibly guilty afterwards. I have read that if you smoke that the baby may have asthma later on, or low birth weight. Ultimately the choice is up to you and what you feel okay with.Basically it boils down to, we will all do what we are going to do, regardless of what statistics say (or people on yahoo answers).

I did smoke while I was pregnant with all 3 of my kids. My oldest weighed 8 lbs 7 oz, second 7 lbs 9 oz, and third 7lbs 2 oz. All are healthy and fine. BUT I do believe the warnings about low birth weight in SOME people and their children. My mom smoked all the way through with my brother and I. We grew up healthy, but now smoke. I have been smoking for 17 years now, and have no desire to quit. If you are pregnant, I would cut wayyyy back, but if you try to quit cold turkey, it may cause anxiety that could harm the baby more than if you gradually cut back. I would say go with your gut feeling. If smoking makes you sick, don't do it.

i did smoke. but i quit, first i slowed way down and then quit. and i know it wasn't because of smoking but i did have a preemie baby but that was because i have an incompetent cervix, i was on bed rest for three months. now i am pregnant again and i quit smoking right away, i know people that smoked all the way through their pregnancies, and everything was ok, but it is up to you to be honest i think you should quit, you wouldn't believe how much better you feel when you don't smoke, everything seems so much clearer, no joke, try it, not for me or for you but for your baby, its only for a few months right!
congrats on baby! :)

I gave up the day I found out I was pregnant, but I found it easy coz my morning sickness - the smell of smoke made me ill, so I was quite lucky that way. I don't think bad of mothers who try to stop but can't coz it's one of the most addictive substances. Everyone who I know that smoked during their pregnancies have had no problems - yet!

Smoking is trashy to begin with but to be pregnant and smoking is retarded and your baby needs to be taken away because if you'll smoke while pregnant you'll most definitely smoke around the baby!! You know that smoking around babies has been linked to SIDS, don't you or do you not care??

My friend smoked throughout her pregnancy but she cut down. Her baby was born three months early and had to spend alot of time in the hospital. She still smokes around him now and he weezes when he breathes. I know because I babysit him. Please don't do this.

No, I quit. Nothing is worth the possible risk to the baby.
