I am 12 and I started my period in August. It has been really irregular these few months. I had 25 days apart to 45 days appart. I got mine this month, it started 21 days ago and ended about a week later. But this morning when I woke up and went to the lav and had blood in my underwear! This is kind of private so I can't tell my mom. Does anyone know if this is normal or serious.
*************
Thanks. Don't joke around please!

This is totally normal, it will take a while before they sort themselves out. When i first started i would go months without a period. If it carries on too long maybe talk to your mum and see the doctor, She will understand

Yup it's normal... i started having a period when i was 9 Years old... i have a problem just like yours...
but it's normal....
it is maybe a "FALSE ALARM"....

Eumenorrhea denotes normal, regular menstruation that lasts for a few days (usually 3 to 5 days, but anywhere from 2 to 7 days is considered normal).[3] The average blood loss during menstruation is 35 millilitres with 10-80 mL considered normal;[4] many women also notice shed endometrium lining that appears as tissue mixed with the blood. An enzyme called plasmin — contained in the endometrium — tends to inhibit the blood from clotting. Because of this blood loss, women have higher dietary requirements for iron than do males to prevent iron deficiency. Many women experience uterine cramps, also referred to as dysmenorrhea, during this time. A vast industry has grown to provide sanitary products to help women to manage their menses.

hey babe.
My periods were very irregular when they first started. I was all over the place....never knew what was going to happen and would never pre plan going out as i would spend all my time in doors whilst having periods.

Its just about getting used to them and you are very young so your body is still getting into the routine. Please dont worry too much about this.

Also, if you dont mind me saying so, please dont distance your mum from all this. Make her your best friend from now on because she will have been through all this and will be the best person to help you through it. I think it will make you bond even strnger than it already is because she will take pride in the fact that her daughter thought it was good to talk to her and not to someone else.....

but she doesnt need to know about this conversation.

Good luck babe.

Hi, it can take a while for periods to settle down so don't worry it is normal. You can make an appointment to see your nurse or doctor at your local health centre and you don't have to take mum with you, they will put your mind at ease. Do you have a friend or relative to talk to about this?

Make sure you always have a pad with you just in case you start when not at home.

Hi,

Periods take a little while to settle into a rhythm as it were, so dont worry. I was quite erreatic when I first started. I think you should tell your mum as she has bound to have gone through it already. My mum was really helpful when i first started and when im dying of the pain she is always there giving me pills to help!

Dont be ashamed we all have these problems!

Good luck and you are perfectly normal trust me!

It takes a while for your periods to become regular but if it is worrying you go and see your doctor, you dont have to tell your mum if you dont want to but remember she has been there to and she can put your mind at rest with things like this its a bit embarrising I know but she has been expecting this for years you are her little girl.
