The festive season is almost upon us once again,
Bought all your prezzies, filled the fridgefreezer/beer chiller.
or do you, like me, leave it all until the last minute?

This year, my husband and I decided to do most of our shopping online. That way, we wouldn't have to deal with all the crowds, the pushing, the shoving, etc. We made a plan of what we would buy and for whom, and it ended up being a theme this year to get everyone's gifts (except the kids' toys) through a charity or organization. So far, we have given to Beads for Education (they make beaded items to sell to raise money for girls in Kenya to go to school) Autism Speaks, the ASPCA, Jamestown Museum (they raise money for their archaeological research in Jamestown, Virginia) Big City Mountaineers (they take inner city kids camping, fishing, ect.) Breast Cancer Research (we bought items through Avon...100% of their profits go to the research) the American Cancer Society, College of the Atlantic (they "adopt" whales to people for a year, and the money goes to research on finback whales) World Wildlife Foundation, The Make a Wish Foundation and the USHS. It feels good to give to these organizations who could use the money more than my sister needs a new pair of cheap wal-mart earrings, and you can still get something in return to put under the tree. There are soooooo many more organizations out there that need help, and now is a good opportunity to pitch in. Not to mention that I'm almost done with my christmas shopping, and I didn't have to leave my computer....plus, if you have family members that won't be here this Christmas, you can have something shipped directly to them. My daughter even got into the spirit, and cut a foot of her hair off to give to Locks of Love....and she's only 8 years old...I'm so proud of her for being such a good person. So, as for being "ready" for the upcoming holidays... I'm about halfway there (I still haven't decorated the house) But I took this opportunity to perhaps give others ideas that would "pay it forward" this year. Good luck to everyone!

I've done the presents thing, that was the easy part. My parents are JW's (jehovah witnesses) and therefore they don't celebrate, I'm not one so I have a huge shin dig! I will probably have to work either Christmas Eve, or Boxing Day, as long as I have Christmas day off with my 2 children, I don't care. My daughter is getting a new bike and my son is getting a mobile phone. The only problem I have at Christmas time is trying to keep the cat from climbing the Christmas tree. Last year he brought it crashing down countless times, so this year I've got a smaller tree! Wish me luck!

Haven't even started Christmas preparations yet! I've got so much on next month that I really won't have the opportunity to get it sorted either so it'll be a mad race around the shops the last 2 days before - assuming there's anything left on the shelves of course :-)

Almost ready, the pressies are bought and wrapped, the turkeys in the freezer and the booze is in the cellar, just the fresh stuff to buy a few days before and were done and dusted, come on off your bum and get things done then you can chill out, good luck.

Got most of our two kid's prezzies, but that's all. All the commercialism gets me, but still I loved it when I was a boy.
