Both have equal importance
It doesnt matter as long as you do it from a prestigious institute .
As far as India is concerned even the IIMs give PGDBM . As long as you have one graduate degree it doesnt matter pursuing a diploma course .
Delhi University's MBA program is the only one given by a top institution which provides a degree for MBA and it doesnt matter at all in placements, further studies or knowledge gained during the course.

No mater if you go for MBA or PGDBM, both will carry same value. it will be always great if you get it from perstigious organization like IIMS or XLRI etc.
In some institutions like Hyderabad university giving 1 year PGDBM, it will be good once u do have sufficient work exp in relavant field to support you education.

MBA is the general term that refers to PGDBM
PGX is the academic term for any post graduate course obtained from a recognised institute such as the PGDBM from IIMs

MBA is awarded by an University. PGDBM is awarded by institute. It is not important, which is better, but, which is recognized and re-knowned. In India, IIMs, Bajaj, Xavier, etc. are world re-knowned & recognised, by Industries, world over. Now, you can decide.
