I think it is something that needs to be brought to the Christian community's attention. It is all to common for some Christians to judge a gay person and not a fornicater. I mean...if it were a murderer, I would understand having a harder time with that, but its not, it's a gay person!
For example (a silly one but very recent) I was watching the real world last night, and staying in the house is a very conservative Christian. Also in the house is a gay guy. The Christian focuses so much on letting the gay guy know that he is wrong to be gay, when all the other members in the house get drunk and have sex with eachother-and nothing is said by the Christian to them (yet).
It's such a common thing, and the only reason I can give is because people are afraid of some sins more than others, thus quicker to call it out. I completely agree with you and you seem to have a mature view on this. Hopefully not all Christians you know represent themselves this way. I am a Christian-and I still sin to this day. It doesn't make me superhuman, it doesn't make me better than anybody, and I really hate that there are self proclaimed Christians that represent it in such a hateful way, because that is not what Christianity is about.

Respectfully, there's no sin that is larger than yet another. Any and all unrepented sin will do the job of condemning someone’s immortal soul – unrepented mendacity, unrepented stealing, unrepented refusing to forgive, unrepented hatred, homosexuality is purely yet another of many, no worse. Unrepented any will fee you eternal existence same to any of the others. Why no longer purely do what God calls for, confess your sins to God, fairly sorry out of your heart and easily ask His forgiveness? he will, thoroughly. Then turn from them proving your repentance is actual. believe that Jesus’ death on the go took the punishment your sins deserved. All who do will get carry of eternal existence and be empowered through the Holy Spirit to do what He instructions. Why do you postpone? examine how the Bible says to be top with God, Matthew 4:17; Acts 2:38; Acts 3:19; Romans 2:4-5; Romans 3:23-24; James 2:10; Hebrews 9:27; a million John a million:8-9; Romans 5:8; Romans 10:9-10; Romans 10:13; Ephesians 2:8-9; 2 Corinthians 5:21; a million Peter 2:24; a million Peter 3:18; John 3:36; a million John 5:eleven-13 So then, each and every human beings will supply an account of them self to God. Romans 14:12

The severity of a sin is a matter of tense, it's minor and easily forgiven, no big deal really, in the First Person, i.e. My sin. It is only in the Second Person, i.e. Your sin, that it is unforgivable. Christians only condemn what they don't do, that's the nice thing about not having to read or pay attention the Book you Religion is based on.

It says in the "laws to the jews" segment that a man who lays with another man has done something wrong and imoral and should be put to death.....
But that stuff was undone with the new testement... so if your christian and not jewish it's perfectly ok to be gay....
There is a lot of stuff from there they chose to ingore... not just the fact it was thrown out....
there is also the fact there it says a LOT of realy messed up... go there and read some of those laws..... heck 80% of the US should have been stoned to death if you follow that stuff

It makes them feel less guilty about their own sins. It's more comforting to judge you and me than to find fault with themselves and their families. Sin is sin. God will not make an exception just because I'm gay and you for example stole an apple.

Homophobia has nothing to do with religion. People fear and hate homosexuals for two real reasons:
1) To preserve group cohesion, people naturally desire to make their own groups uniform and villify groups who are different. People fear differences because they are percieved as a threat to the group and the status quo. In this respect, homophobia, racism, anti-semitism, and most other group bigotry has the same origin.
2) In our overmasculine male-dominated society, men feel the need to constantly assert their own masculinity. Since most men are straight, they prove their masculinity by openly attacking homosexuality. It's an "I swear I'm straight, look at me beat on homosexuals!" reaction. Because male values are given stronger weight, society is generally accepting and even encouraging of feminine lesbians, but vicious to masculine lesbian, masculine gay men, and especially feminine gay men.

those particular "Christians," if they can call themselves that, are nothing but hypocrites. they pick and choose what sins they want to believe are sins. they re-translate and quote bible verse out of context to suit their own hateful agenda. those that hate in the name of God are the sinners! preaching hatred and intolerance and passing judgment on others is NOT Christian! they are the ones who will be going to hell, not us!
all of my friends, both gay and straight are Christians and do NOT act this way. God created and loves us all!

they consider some sins worse than others because......they have a sinometre , :P joking
because they are idots. being gay is not worse than having sex before marriage or anything else. some people would even consider crime less sinfull than being gay but even being a thief is a major sin according to the Bible

Hon, this question ended up in the LGBT section anyway.
Christians are still human beings and will do anything, say anything, just to make themselves feel superior to others, whether they're right or not.
