Well, this is like an egg or chicken thing. You could say people became more violent because of the gangsta music, but in fact, those gangs existed before the music was made; it is the music that copied life.
On the oother hand, it obviously influences people. If you see all day people in leather jacket with long hair smoking on the top of the charts, you probably think that's cool and want to imitate. However, if you don't have that environemnt, no matter how stupid things TV shows, you won't become like one of them. Try to find a 50 Cent like person in Alaska... So as you see, it's pretty much like a chicken-or-egg situation.
Personally, I feel like shooting kids when I hear the pinkish pop "love is so great" or "oh, my baby left me" :))

I usually seem for artists who've toured with a band i like or despite Lastfm recommends for me. BQ: particularly everyone who listens to hint that may not mainstream is a hipster All christian music is undesirable If this is not nicely-known, this is not solid. And the certainty that there continues to be some nutjobs interior the international who think of rock & metallic are evil. heavily, why can not human beings choose music with the aid of what it sounds like particularly than who wrote it or how nicely-known a band is? BQ2: Hm...i assume so. Even united states. Ray Stevens is hilarious. And even nonetheless i don't somewhat like digital/overly autotuned stuff, I nonetheless like a number of Owl city's stuff by some ability.

Anykind of music that degrades a group of people, that glorifies violence or breaking the law. There is not a "type" per se, there is good rap, good heavy metal, good country, etc. However, no matter how great the rymth is if the lyrics degrades women, men, a race, etc or glorifies violence, it is the wrong kind of music to listen to. That is why parents even through they might not like the kind of music their children listen to, must listen to the song at least 1 time to decide if the music degrades or glorifies if so, get rid of it and if not, even through you do not like it leave it in your child's possession.

Music, like literature is subjective, that is you can make it mean what you want. So really some lunatic could say "Hills are alive with the sound of music" made him rob and slay goat farmers. I think if you are not bought up to differentiate between real life and what the media presents, you have not been bought up too well.

I feel that if a child is depressed or is going through issues on their own, *they* seek out music to express that. Goth kids aren't that way because of the music, they choose it to define their beliefs. Kids who listen to heavy rap music do it because it glorifies their values that have already been instilled by their peers or neighbourhood.

rap/hip hop of course. they talk about their guns, gangs, illegal drugs and that type of thing more than all other types of music put together.
and that's BS what the person below me said. it influences some young kids whether they have good parents or not. some kids will do anything to be "cool." my mom used to work in an elementary school in the front office. she knew the parents. no, not all of them were good. but many of them were good parents trying to do everything they can, but the music industry has such an influence on what is "cool" for young kids.

i dotn think the music is the problem, i listened to rap metal heavy stuff for years didnt affect me, i think this is because i have no interest in the people creating the music. its the music makers who are the bad influence, like 50cent, his music is pants but his persona probably appeals to the young and impresionable.

Well I say if we are going to blame rap music on crime, then we need to blame ballads and love songs on suicide; country music on alcoholism & divorce; and hip-hop on sex and chicks with big butts. I believe music may effect your mood but not your predisposition to commit certain behaviors especially those related to crime
