I have a few published writer friends, general opinion is to get an agent to help you, that way you will receive exposure rather than just sit on the shelf, they will also be able to help you find the right kind of publisher for the job, some are better than others.

Tempus Publishing specialise in academic texts, and have published lots of books by Roy Porter (who I'm sure you've heard of!) who wrote many books on Medical History.

TRAFFORD PUBLISHING you'll find them on the net they publish all books on an order and demand basis you have complete control over text and illustrations etc plus you are not under contract with them you can leave at any time if you find another publisher.Goodluck with your book.

i don't think it's illegal to grow them. it's not illegal to sell them in their completely natural form but the minute you do anything to it it becomes illegal. there's a shop in my town that sells them lol! only go mushroom picking if you know what you are looking for - there are several almost identical ones which will kill you.

Try gaia books, they publish all kinds of new age oriented stuff, ranging from yoga manuals to natural cookbooks...
