I'm feeling uneasy about this whole "Quebec is a nation" issue, because I was born in Quebec in 1956, and I'm wondering if my Canadian citizenship and all that goes with it is at risk. What do the many people like ourselves do in these circumstances??????

I was simply born there and at 5 months old left with my family to Ontario then onto British Columbia. I don't know what Quebec looks like, I don't speak the language and I do share in the Canadian taxes. But the question still remains the same; IS MY CANADIAN CITIZENSHIP AT RISK DUE TO QUEBEC?

The first thing you need to do is calm down. You're in absolutely no danger of losing your Canadian citizenship. The law in no way requires retroactive renunciation. You were born in Canada, and you are Canadian. The recognition of the Quebecois as a nationality in no way constitutes a renunciation by Ottowa of sovereignty. This is largely a symbolic move. And even if one day the province were to declare its independence, it would still not effect your citizenship rights unless YOU chose to relinquish
them.

Feel better now?

Cheers, mate.

Why would it be at risk? I live in Québec myself and as many already said, it only means very little like recognizing the status of the province "Within A United Canada", as it was stated. So really there is nothing at stake here.
May I point out that noone made a big fuss when the First Nations were given that "Nation" status, and not to be a racist here because I am really not, their First Nations status has cost all Canadians a lot more in many ways than Québec ever will.

Your citizenship shouldn't be at risk. It's just another way to look at Quebec(a bone thrown to the Separatists) there is no real change in how the province is operating. Quebec is still a part of Canada.

This Quebec nation within Canada, is just a name, a title....it actually means very little economically or politically...its a big dog and pony show...meant to keep Quebec in the fold and quiet.

i'm from quebec and that i ought to admit it sounds reliable in french. ''Nordzik'' yet whilst the gang might come back i might quite need them to have a clean call and sort/jersey. particular the gang became conventional even nevertheless it as a rule sucked and became a separatist bandwagon. i choose quebec to have hockey for hockey purely. oh , suited. 5/10
