Keep their noses out of other countries business? Why is that they have to be the centre of attention and Police countries that should be left well alone? And why does the UK follow them like a sad little puppy dog?

I agree , as our interfearance is the root cause for most of our problems. Issolation did not work or so they calim, but to my thinking since we have homeless, hungry, medically neglected, and other probelms here that we havent begun to take care of, why are we involving ourselves in others civil probelms? The British since the world wars have followed us, in ever action, because they too love a fight and to meddle.

Because war is big business. They get kick backs from weapons contractors. They use all the weapons in surplus then stockpile new ones. Sell the used arms to the countries we eventually go to war with. Rest a bit then do it all over again. War is and always will be the biggest money maker of all money makers. Everything is staged to make the masses believe that we must go to war to protect the American way of life and swing in like we are some sort of Hero to the people of an oppressed nation. The UK does not follow us we take orders from them don't get it twisted. The US plays the evil Sheriff and UK is the King. We still pay the UK for our Independence if you did not know that. Germany are the police of the money. Us is the strong arm guy. UK Pound worth twice as much as US dollar Germany just a little lower than the buck. Did you also know that 2/3 of all money printed in the US goes over seas. It is the only currency you can spend on every continent. US Sheriff Germany Police UK King. We go to make MONEY!

Well, I suspect your "question" is another one of those meant to bait certain types, however, objectively speaking, you ask a good question.

I think the US has gotten too full of its democratic principles--somewhere along the line we adopted a foreign policy platform that says "democracy and capitalism are so fundamentally good and good for the US if it exists elsewhere in the world, that we will export it and encourage it to grow elsewhere." In the abstract this may seem fine, but in its practice it leads to other slogans which have some terrible implications--"we need to make the world safe for democracy" as one example.

The logical extension of this policy statement is a Viet Nam or an Iraq. In fact, Iraq comes about from the notion that we can pre-emptively strike to "defend our democracy."

I guess what I am saying is that the US has gotten onto a slippery slope policy-wise.

Now when you add that we are the remaining superpower we have a coupling of an expansionistic policy with the power to do it. Unfortunately, in statecraft, when all else fails, might makes right (its why we often engage in rhetoric against Macchiavelli, but frequently conform to his principles). We also have a world that would gladly ask the US to intervene in its problems because its easier (and often cheaper) to let us shoulder their burden than for them to resolve their own problems internally, all the time using the US as a straw man to focus anger.

As for the UK, I'm not sure that it always follows the US like a "puppy dog" but it certainy did on Iraq and frankly, I don't understand why.

As to your assertion that some countries that "should be left well alone", I'm not so sure I agree with that either. If you mean Iraq, then I do agree--Iraq was like Tito's Yugoslovia, Hussein held it together and by toppling him we set in motion forces we can't possibly control. However, I'm not so sure that Iran and North Korea fit the same pattern.

I am just philosophizing here, but here is my theory....

Due to recent technological discoveries and many inventions the human race now has the ability to wipe out the entire planet... In many different ways...

- Some are fast: (nuclear warfare, chemical warfare, germ warefar, long range missiles, suicide bomber strapped with a nuclear device, nuclear plant melt down, a nuclear plant melt down do to natural disaster, highly toxic hazmat waste seeping into the ocean, etc),

- Some are slow: (car exhuast, pollution, deforistization, modern farm technology changing the php balence of the ocean, etc)

Now here is the ultimate question.... with so many vast cultures, different upbringings, levels of education, mental states (I add this because history proves mentally unstable people can rise to powerful positions) and religious beliefs. How can the world as a whole protect it self from a group of people, a country, or one person... and ensure that technology is used in a way that is none self-destructing... And regulate it as such that it will still ensure equal human rights, and personal freedom?

Right now no one seems to have a good solution? How can other countries stop, or enforce action on that group, country, or person that is causing human self destruction?

I mean a one world government that governs countries? That has never happened before... So the human race is being forced to try develop a new way of world regulation... Now you mix money, foreign aid, power struggle, different agendas, different personal beliefs, political beliefs, and religious beliefs, and all sorts of different things can happen... Which explains the current state of world affairs...

This is a relatively new problem.... (spanning over the past 60 years)... and unfortunately no really solid solution comes immediately... there is usually lots of trial and error... I mean look how long, and how many trials and errors it has taken the human race to come up with modern forms of country governance... And all of these governments still have a tons of problems...

It seems like it is not like the 40's and 50's any more... meaning in this day and age of mass communication and technology no one country can just isolate itself and let all the other countries around it do what ever they want... Or can they? Or if they do are they safely protecting the people in which they govern?

PS - please excuse grammar problems... it is late and I like to let the creative juices flow when brainstorming =o)

I think that's a good question but a better question is why so many countries ask the United states to get involved..?The Americans have a saying Caught between a rock and a hard place..in other words Damn if they do damn if they don't !!
Its a price perhaps for it being to days only superpower,,and
it wasn't always like that!!

It's not America any more than it's England. It's our governments. We the people don't get a say. We elect people to serve us and then they put their own agendas into play. This war in Iraq is President Bush's doing, not the American people's. Most of us are against it. There are always going to be people who abuse their power or money. There are always going to be people who help others with their power or money. Which direction is taken depends on who is the President. I can say one thing with absolute certainty. Without America, the world would be much worse off than it is today. Can you say Heil Hitler?

The USA is like any other super power in history. Greed for more money and power is the motivation.
Do you see USA military in Africa? No.... there is no profit to be made, no oil, no commodities.
Uk shares the same interest.

All governments need to look at the big picture. Our planet is in trouble. We will run out of fresh air and water before we run out of oil and money.

We like to blame "Americans" for these things, but as has been said already, it was George W and a few of his "yes men" who wanted to follow in Daddy's footsteps and cause the deaths of thousands of good, honest people.

As for why Big Tony follows him everywhere, I cant help. Maybe it's a financial thing or maybe he's just attracted to the power that George wields.

Think about this. (and I am not American) If the yanks had not interfered in WWII you would be speaking German and living under Nazi rule!!! would that appeal to you more? No they are not perfect, nor is anyone else. But just remember when there is a disaster anywhere the Americans are always expected to give the most help and the most support and the most money. I don't understand why they do when all they get is responses like your.
