I"m asking because I have a friend who thinks that the blame for being cast out of paradise is a lot to find out when you learn what it means...for the child...I think she is way out there but I guess she has a point.

I think that Adam is a beautiful name and if you need to bring religion into it, then think of the first man as he was before taking the apple from Eve.
Honestly, why does this even need to come into the the scenario? A name is the gift a parent gives to a child. I've never met a person with a truly unique name, and I'm sure there are some evil people out there with the same name as me. Doesn't make me a bad person.

Our friends also have baby boy named Adam.
Traditionally, Adam means "THE EARTH"
But to us, Adam is considered as
A for Admired
D for Decisive
A for Ambitious
M for Man
An "admired, decisive, and ambitious man".

Sure.
God liked it. It is a strong male name.
From one of the Baby Names sites:
Hebrew man of the red earth
Traits: Adam is described as a tall, dark, handsome, and masculine man who is quiet and smart
It is also one of those names that cannot be easily changed for the other children to pick on.

Sure, it sounds quite alright.
It's easy to pronounce and spell, it doesn't have stupid variants and it's recognizable. It's a fine name.

Ah. The biblical guilt implication. Sorry I didn't think to respond to that earlier. Quite apart from blaming Adam for the fall from paradise (some blame Eve, and I don't think it happened so I don't care), I don't think it would bother any child I know. I know a few Adams, and it certainly isn't stressing them!

I like the name Adam.
It is just a nice, normal name unlike some of these made up or silly names everybody wants to give their poor kids these days.
