if they are in the closet, you would not know they are in the closet, until they came out of the closet.
yet if you know this via inside information...(no pun intended)I can't see why you shouldn't trust them unless there's more in the closet than you where prepared for

It depends on why they are in the closet. Are they hiding from someone? Are they playing hide-and-seek? If so, then, yes I trust them and why not!!

Me?.... I'd ask him to come out with it.....
