The study of shapes generally falls under the subject of geometry. Geometry is important because it makes our lives very easy. Look around you. Everything that has been made in factories, from your table and computer to your door and the car outside on the road, all of it is made of several parts that have to have the exact shape to fit into each other. Do you think if the makers of these things did not know about shapes they would be able to build all these wonderful things. I don't think so.

Have you ever hear the phrase, "Think outside the box."?

The reasons for shape vary but are many. If I asked you to go get a box of cereal you might grab a can of corn if you didn't learn the basic skills. Also, those skills are the base of other skills.
