Because if the government printed loads of money, inflation would go up and the economy would be ruined.

If only it was that easy...

The USA has been printing money for years that it cannot support that's why the US dollar is worth nothing (it has dropped more than 40% in value over the past 5 years)
We cannot be the conscience for Africa, when its own politicians rape their own countries and steal millions.
The people of Africa can only solve their own problem.
The answer is not just to give more and more money.

Doing so would destroy a country's economy.

Think of it this way. If all of a sudden the US printed twice as much currency as what it presently has, the currency that people and corporations now hold would be reduced in value by half. That means that they would now have to pay twice as much for commodities and other consumer goods. That would break the backs of most families who are already just making ends meet, and force just about all companies to either shut down, cut out employee benefits like insurance (which would further hurt families), or just fire workers altogether because they wouldn't be able to afford to keep them.

You can't just print money - countries can only print money when they have a balanced state of economy to make up for the money printed. If more was just suddenly printed it would lose all value and become worthless.
A case example of this was with germany after the First World War.

As much as most of would like to help it isn't this simple...

Because, if we print a whole bunch of money, the value of a dollar will go WAY down, and won't be worth much anyway. I barely have the money to take care of my OWN family. Their (kids in poor countries) lives don't depend on me. Maybe people with money to burn could see things that way..... why not ask the people with billions that spend their money on diamond handbags....

ur suggestion cant work due 2 the reasons listed below:

1. when money is scarce, prices go down, if in xcess, the opposite is true. when prices do go up, the poor africans would be no better off than they were b4 they had their millions.
2. poverty in africa is not as a result of lack of capital, its as a result of a lack of enterprenuership ideas to sustain a continous flow of cash. in other words, they would spend it all n' b poor again.

its not the money problem. its primitiveness that cause the problem and thats why education is amongest the top priorities in world organisations aiding africa such as the UN.

by the way i am african and live in africa.

Does the word 'inflation' mean anything to you??

Also having lived in Africa I can tell you that the best we can do is leave it alone and let Africans sort out their own problems. They are constantly saying that they can do it anyway.

The only help they really accept from the west is money and I for one object to my taxes being thrown in to that bottomless pit.
