Turtles can stay underwater for a long time. Some can do what is called cloacal breathing, but not most species (It has not been demonstrated in Red-ear sliders that I know of.)

When they sleep, they can stay under for an hour or so, grab a quick breath and be back in position almost in the blink of an eye.

As long as it is not trapped and behaves normally otherwise- don't sweat it!

I have the same turtle and she does the same thing. She will be fine. Mine stays under forever. She will come back up for air when she needs it. I think mine sleeps underwater but I am not sure.
