When i click on transfer i keep getting a window saying connect phone via usb. My phone is already connected and the screen shows it is ready for transfer. Anyone had similar problems which they have managed to resolve ?

Most PC don't regonize the mobile as external hardware, you may need to download an installation update from a website for the pc to understand the phone.
Other problems are the music file format, normally they need to be mp3. formatted, and I suggest you compress them, or you'll only be able to fit like 2 songs on max due to the file size.
One finally common problem is that on slighty older machines,, the USB speed is fairly low, so upgrade to the fastest USB hold available.

What you should do is buy an USB lead and pug it into your phone and into the back of the computer and press transfer and it will transfer because i have got the same phone as you.
