I personally don't think its fair that he should have to pay them money, because those guys were rude and out of line to begin with. Some people, regardless of race, just have no class or couth. Hecklers are number one on that list. Hecklers are basically equivalent to the people in the movie theater that talk althroughout the movie. They are the ones who have nerve to bring small children to a movie for adults also. He lost his cool and he was wrong for the insults-both parties were wrong. However, he should countersue the hecklers for disrupting the show to the degree that they did. Matter of fact, he should sue the Laugh Factory for allowing the heckling to go on as long as it did. Those guys should have been kicked out, before Richards even came on. There's no excuse for the insufferable behavior of the hecklers harrassment of the acts that opened for Kramer. The whole black community should file suit against the hecklers for refering to themselves as n*ggas in the first place.

From what I've read about this incident, the "hecklers" were in fact getting up and leaving/going to the bathroom which caused a disturbance during his show.
He then started berating them as they were moving about/chatting.
His tirade was unprofessional and insane. If I were there and paid to see a show I would have asked for my money back. I couldn't believe he ruined a show for his audience as a whole because he couldn't keep it together.
He should definitely pay every last person there. Those poor guys were humiliated by his actions and should be compensated for his poor judgment.

From the video I saw, I'm not so convinced they heckled him as much as you contend, maybe you were there, but I think he does owe them monetary compensation, what he did is called assault. You cannot berate someone like he did it is unlawful. It is not, however, unlawful to heckle a performer a little, usually the crowd overseer's any unusual heckling and puts a stop to it for a good show. Richards is in a profession where there is a reasonable expectation of such behavior, (if indeed there even was such), his reputation is shot, he needs to stand up and admit he either has a problem with rage, racism or was under the influence of prescription drugs, pay his due to those he offended directly with money and those he offended indirectly with such vile remarks by an apology.

No way. Of course racism is a terrible thing, but everyone has a right to their own beliefs and especially a right to voice those beliefs. Freedom of speech is what this country is about. And those guys can't argue that because those voiced their opinions in that incident too. Richards didn't do anything that would enable these guys to any money. He didn't break any laws.

No way. Those two brought their street act into the club and knew what to expect. That does not excuse him but it is how someone gets the tar beat out of them in LA. What you saw is aggravated assault without the battery that would have followed. What happened is a reflection on Los Angeles and its polarized culture. People die that way here for any reason the assailants choose. All three of them should be thrown out of town.

no, it is ridiculous, as ridiculous as the statement 'money can solve all of our problems'
racism, hate & violence is an emotional issue, the solution is emotional, have him dress as a black man for 30 days with morgan spurlock and see how difficult life can be as a black man, then maybe he'll learn something & sympathize rather than be intolerant

Absolutley not. I have found it interesting that the heckler keeps saying "I have not talked to him" "he has not tried to contact me", etc. What is he looking for from him?

No he should not be made to pay compensation, i think this incident will cost him a lot of lost work, so he will be paying for his actions any way.
